Welcome! We are excited that you have shown an interest in our Young Artist Solo Competition.  This contest is open to any student, grades 9-12 who is currently enrolled in a Mansfield ISD band program. Audition selections must come from the UIL PML Grade 1 solo list although performances do not have to be memorized or come from the non-memorization list. Performers must have a live accompanist or SmartMusic set-up for the audition. A piano will be provided.

 

The contest will take place at Lake Ridge High School on Saturday, April 15th. Each performer will have the opportunity to sign up for a 20 minute time slot on a first come, first served basis. A panel of judges will provide both written and live feedback as time permits.

 

Prizes will be awarded as follows:

First place: $500

Second place: $300

Third place: $200

 

Money will be awarded in the form of college scholarship or summer music camp tuition. In addition, each winner will be recognized at our Spring Concert on April 30th. The first place winner will also be invited to perform their piece at the concert.
